Are you overweight and want to lose a few pounds. Then, why is it that the simplest form of exercise we can do, yet its got us to a point where we just don’t want to do it. We find every excuse in the book not to do more of it, when we do a form of it everyday, anyway. I know because I’m one of them. I’ve tried many forms of exercise over the years, and why is it that this particular exercise/walk-yourself-slimmer is so hard for me and others like me to do. When we make a decision to start, its hard to stick with it, its hard to maintain it, and its just hard sometimes, to get started. At the beginning of the year, I saw a group of five women in my neighborhood, dressed for the occasion, walking in a group, that must have lasted a couple of days, I don’t see them walking anymore. The benefits of brisk walking are so great that none of us should be sitting on the sidelines. Yes, some of us are gym members and get exercise in other ways to help achieve our healthy life goals and lead us to losing a few pounds, but walking can also show results in a short period of time. I’m a gym member and I go there often, but not nearly as much as I would like. But walking, its FREE, you don’t have to pay to do it, but yet we don’t do enough of it. The benefits of taking brisk walks can help you maintain your healthy weight along with the following.
- Help manage conditions related to heart disease, blood pressure and some form of diabetes.
- Strengthen bones and muscles.
- Improves mood.
- Improves balance and coordination.
Walking alone, is probably one the of most lonliest things that one can do. It does take discipline, and if you feel that’s part of your problem, to help you get and keep the motivation going while walking to achieve better health and losing unwanted pounds in the process, try organizing a group in your local living area and/or forming a walking partnership with a work group. What ever you do, start walking yourself toward better health, JUST GET MOVING, and become a healthier you.
