When starting an exercise regime, sometimes we don’t know where to start. Should we us weights, machines, walk, jog, run, yoga, pilates, what on earth should I do? Do I need a trainer, a coach, or do I go solo, mix-up so many questions to be answered. It doesn’t have to be, but know that the decision is all up to you. I have been on a stop and go exercise program for the last few years, now, no that’s not a program, but I think you get what I’m saying. I’ve had gym memberships, I’ve walked, jogged and danced and the shoes you wear make a difference http://amzn.to/2i1bYJP. I’ll start and I’ll stop, however now I am more focused and trying out different things. As a member of a local fitness centers, which I go weekly, I won’t say daily because I don’t go 4-5 days a week as I would like to do, but I get there. Your exercise can take place in the comfort of your home or in your neighborhood where you gather others to join in as a group. Its not like you have to go and join up with some gym in order to reap the benefits of exercise. It takes a made up mind, of course, and that’s where we need to start, with a made up mind. We’ve got some happy news that will rev up your workout routine: The moment you head out on your run, launch into your Spinning class, or start your Pilates session, the benefits of exercise kick in. “We see changes in the body within seconds,” says FITNESS advisory board member Michele Olson, PhD, professor of exercise physiology at Auburn University at Montgomery in Alabama. Your heart rate increases, and blood is delivered to your muscles. You start burning calories for fuel. And you get an almost immediate mood boost.
Start by setting some simple steps for your exercise activity.
- Set your plan
- Set goals that you what to accomplish
- Get an exercise buddy, if needed
- Commit to your routine and document your progress, via journal or dairy
- Watch the transformation
- Reward yourself for goals achieved
I went to the gym on yesterday and as usual I went straight to the treadmill area, it was kind of crowded because it was later in the day than when I normally go, but I was determined to get there that day, and I did. As I stepped on the treadmill a call was placed on the intercom for a cycling class, I thought that’s something new for me, let me give that a try. I hopped off the treadmill for Body-Shaper which I hadn’t yet started and headed for the cycle/spin class room area. Guess what, I enjoyed it, but my only drawback was that, that damn seat was hard, but I made it through the 30 minute session. Next time I’ll have my ass ready :). There were many advanced students in the class, doing all kinds of different things as the instructor directed, but I continued to do what I was comfortable with and that was sitting on the seat and paddling and wow, to my surprise I eventually was able to stand and paddle, boy did I feel that in my thighs when I attempted that move. So I would do that in increments, sit and paddle, stand and paddle. I knew that I wanted to elevate myself to something more than just paddling before I left that class. I guess that’s my competitive spirit, and I accomplished that. Can’t wait for the next class, but I will continue with the treadmill as well, perhaps not the same day. So you see, with just one step at a time can put you on the path to reaching your goal. Don’t stop, don’t give up, exercise is important, exercise is vital for a healthier self.
